A quick way to judge whether you know someone on Facebook is by looking at your mutual friends. The quantity and quality of the friends help you make a quick decision to accept or reject a new friend request. Same should go for Twitter. Instead of wasting prime real estate showing users that are 'similar to' a new 'follower', they should show me users whom both I and the new follower...well...follow, and/or users that follow both of us. I know I'm not the first to suggest this. I just hoped to add an extra voice to the demand...'cos I know the internet is always listening. Have a wonderful weekend. Update: The internet heard .

My first blog post on this blog was a prediction of the future. I predicted that gaming input devices like the Wii would soon be obsolete. Unfortunately, I thought we'd still need something (my goofy guess was plasma gels) to serve as a tactile user interface with the gaming computers. In retrospect, I can't believe it didn't occur to me that since computers can now see, hear, feel, and 'think', they shouldn't need us to wear or carry any input devices in order for them to 'understand' what we want them to do. Microsoft's Xbox 360 won't be needing us to touch any game controllers any more. With Kinect, some sort of glorified web cam, their gaming computers can now 'see', 'hear', and 'understand you. Yikes! My waist size is more than my trouser length! I'd better hit the gym...but first, some pizza and ice cream. Yum!

What if, on one cold winter night, it started snowing circles, and rectangles, and triangles? After ruling out math loving aliens or the Ghost of Maths Yet to Come, I'd probably think someone was having fun with special effects and start looking around the corner for Mr Kutcher (the fact that I'm not yet a celeb probably won't cross my mind). I guess what would freak me out is the fact that scientific rules were suddenly changed...and not the fact that geometric shapes are falling out of the sky. Waitaminute...snow falls as waaaay more complex geometric shapes! Somebody up there must really be having fun.

Watching TV can be likened to consuming calories. Too much of either can be bad for you. Just like there are different kinds of foods, there are different sources of ‘calories’ on TV: ‘Vitamins’: They have little entertainment value (‘calories’) but pack a lot of useful information and/or inspiration (‘nutrients’). In other words, they are good for you. Examples include boring educational programs (as seen on many public freely accessible stations), boring news programs (like some on CSPAN ), boring religious programs, etc. ‘Fruits and Veggies’: They manage to pack in some entertainment value and are very good for you. These include funny educational programs (eg the ‘ For Dummies series’…ok make that educational programs that try to be funny), interesting news programs, engaging religious programs, and exercise videos. ‘Foody Foods’: Since vitamins like to call themselves food, we had to make some kind of distinction. Ok so I finally watched the first episode of Sesame Street that was ever aired. The first major character we see is Gordon who still has hair. He introduces us to Big Bird who seems to be plagued with microcephaly which seems to affect his speech, gait, and even hormonal balance ( he threatens to lay an egg!). Gordon later introduces us to Oscar, who is so clean he is orange in color! Cookie Monster also had a part, even though it was essentially non-speaking and he had a taste for more oriental cuisine like frog legs. The 'commercials' were sponsored by two numbers and three letters who must have paid a pretty penny because there were repeat broadcasts of some commercials in that one episode! Also, a couple of commercials lasted up to 6 minutes! All in all, it was really cool to see how much of the pilot made it to the episodes I watched as a kid in the early eighties. Maybe someday I'll talk about Old School versus New School. Have a great week.

You should have seen the exam Facebook made me take when it suspected that my account might have been hijacked. I was asked to identify my friends from images they'd been tagged in and I had to be 100% accurate. You should have seen me trying to figure out which of my numerous friends were tagged as cartoons, celebrities and various inanimate objects. What's crazier is that I eventually passed the test!
